This course will continue to build upon the college and career readiness skills necessary for the 21st century student. Students will have the opportunity to further develop literacy skills through comprehension, analysis, synthesis, evaluation, research, and rhetorical modes.
Through reading, independently and collaboratively, a wide variety of stories, dramas, poems, and literary nonfiction from diverse cultures and different time periods, students will continue to gain literary and cultural knowledge as well as familiarity with various text structures and elements. In communication through writing students will learn to use writing as a way of offering and supporting opinions, demonstrating understanding of the subjects they are studying, and conveying real and imagined experiences and events.
