CCHS Academic Team Wins Regional Governor's Cup-Advances to State Tournament

Congratulations to the Campbell County High School Academic Team who won the 9th Region Governor's Cup Championship held at Covington Catholic High School. The Quick Recall competition featured the clash of the titans, with both Campbell County and Simon Kenton ranking among the top teams in the state. Campbell County prevailed, winning two hard-fought battles by scores of 41-20 and 37-29. The starting team of captain Colton Graham, Mitchell Turner, Jaclyn Fischesser, Carly Karrick and JT Reagor battled from behind in both matches.The team also won matches against Dixie and Covington Catholic. The FPS team of Zach Kuebbing, Abby Davis, Kate Quinn and Nicholas Yungbluth tied Dixie for 1st place. In written assessments, CCHS won championships in 4 categories, with scores ranking very high in the state. Colton Graham won 1st place in both Math and Social Studies, ranking 5th and 2nd in the state respectively. Mitchell Turner won 1st place in Science, ranking 4th in the state. Jaclyn Fischesser won in Arts & Humanities to rank 7th in the state. Altogether, the team qualified for the state tournament in 14 positions. Statewide, the team total points ranked 4th in the state.
