Reiley's Counselor Connection

Resiliency Poll Link for 3rd-5th

Welcome Back Roadrunners!

Mrs. Hathorn is joining us! It will be an exciting year with fun lessons and groups to help our students be the best they can be. We are embracing helping all students to have Learning Ready Brains and will be sending more information home with your student so you can better understand what that means. We will also continue to work with students on Social Emotional Learning through our evidence-based curriculum Second Step. See below for more info on that and to reach us if you feel your student could benefit from counseling services.

Requesting to See the School Counselor

Please remember that the counselors are available to all students and parents. We have student referral slips in the classrooms for students to request to see the counselor and at times teachers reach out when they feel it could benefit a student. As a parent, please feel free to reach out to us if you feel your child could benefit from speaking with one of the counselors individually or in a group counseling setting by filling out the referral form at the link below.

School Counseling Curriculum

The School Counselors and teachers are working together to implement an evidence-based school counseling curriculum.

Throughout the year we students will be receiving an evidence-based curriculum called Second Step.  The K–5 program has lessons to teach students about empathy, emotion-management, and the problem-solving skills they need to succeed. We also utilize the evidence-based Anti-Bullying curriculum created by Second Step as well.

Second Step is a fantastic curriculum that is being taught in the classroom with all students. The lessons help students learn appropriate techniques for managing emotions, having a safe and respectful school climate by showing empathy, building friendships and understanding bullying. Please click on the link below for more information regarding the Second Step curriculum.
