Alexandria Educational Center Counseling Program

2020-2021 Goals
  1. 85% of students who transition to a normative school environment within Campbell County Schools will remain in that setting for at least a six month period.
  2. Counselors will spend 80% or more of their time in direct and indirect service to students.
  3. Counselors will conduct monthly staff training on trauma-informed approaches, in an effort to decrease student discipline reports by 10% as compared to the 2019-2020 school year.
Mission Statement

At the Alexandria Educational Center the counselors partner with students, parents, school staff, traditional schools, and the community to remove barriers that previously prevented students from succeeding in a traditional school environment. The counselors empower students by assisting them in developing the skills to succeed in a traditional school environment, as well as become productive citizens and lifelong learners.

Belief Statement

The Counselors at Alexandria Educational Center believe that:

  • All students can be successful
  • All students have significance and self-worth
  • The counselors are leaders, advocates, and collaborators in providing the best opportunities for growth and success for every student
  • The counseling program is tailored to meet students’ individual needs
  • The counseling program serves a central role in meeting students’ needs through individual and group counseling which address the academic, career, and personal/social domains
  • The American School Counselor Association's ethical standards guide the work of the counselors and Counseling Program.
Vision Statement

The students at the Alexandria Educational Center will complete the Program well-prepared to succeed in a traditional school environment or the post-secondary/career pursuit of their choice. Also, the Alexandria Educational Center Counseling Program will foster the success of students through:

  • Facilitating and maintaining effective and open communication and collaboration with traditional schools and all stakeholders.
  • Using evidence-based, data-driven interventions to remove barriers to students’ academic, career, and personal/social development.
  • Sharing accountability through analysis of data and making data-informed decisions.
  • Collaborating with all stakeholders to ensure the highest quality resources are available.
  • Creating a safe and nurturing learning environment for all students to Prepare for success in the 21st century.
  • Sharing a common mission and vision with all stakeholders to create and maintain a community culture of high expectations and continuous growth.
