How does a student experience school counseling services?

  • Individual Counseling- Students/parents/teachers can request that the counselor see a student if they have a concern about that student. Typical topics the counselors see students are understanding feelings, divorce/separation/changing families, grief, stress, social skills, academics, bullying problem-solving, decision making, and others.
  • Small Group Counseling- A group of students who are having a similar issues or concern learn ways to help the issue/concern. This group usually has about 3-8 students and can last from 5-8 weeks. Groups are formed from student assessments and teacher recommendations. Topics of groups depend on the needs of the students or teacher recommendations.
  • Classroom Counseling- Once a month each class receives a lesson during their library time. The theme of each lesson changes from month to month. The counselors also will be in the classrooms co-teaching with the classroom teachers a curriculum called Second Step.

Exciting news - Campbell Ridge Elementary

is a RAMP school!

RAMP award

The CRES counselors have been working hard to reach a goal of being recognized program that meets the national standards of American School Counselor Association (ASCA). We met our goal! The award/recognition is called RAMP- Recognized ASCA Modael Program. In order to reach this goal, we will have to compile a portfolio containing evidence that we incorporate RAMP components into our school counseling program. In the state of Kentucky there are very few RAMP schools, so we are excited at the idea of achieving this status.
