Introduction:

  • You are about to explore the beautiful sounds of the symphony orchestra. You will learn about each family of the orchestra and the characteristics of each. Put on your "listening ears" and get ready for a fun adventure!

Task:
  • You may read about each family of the orchestra: String, Woodwind, Brass and Percussion.
  • You will read about the characteristics of two families of instruments; your assigned family and one family of your choice.
  • You will create a Venn Diagram for the two families and list ways they are alike and different.
  • You will listen to the instruments in your family.
